Project 2

Module 2

his project follows key design principles of accessibility, engagement, and immersion. The goal is to create an interactive experience that is intuitive and fosters curiosity about marine life. The design direction leverages:Projection Mapping: To create dynamic, real-time storytelling elements. 3D Printed Elements: To add a tactile dimension to the interactive experience. Multi-Sensory Engagement: Incorporating visual, auditory, and tactile components to enhance learning and exploration.

Workshop 1

Research:Touch designer exploration, basics before everything! Watched these tutorials for inspirations.

Youtube tutorials Videos Currently, we are transitioning from the planning stage into the action phase, taking the necessary steps to bring this project to fruition. Starting touch designer was daunting but watching more videos helped us grasp fundamentals and make us more confident approaching this

Project Management

1: UNKNOWN FACTORS:

  • hich projector will work best for our set up?
  • Will we be able to mount the projector ourselves for testing?
  • Can we actually learn the TouchDesigner program well enough to make something captivating?
  • Will users interacting with the project interfere with the projection?
  • Will the kinect work well enough to track the users?
  • Will the projection be engaging enough to hold user attention?
  • STRATEGIZING 1
  • TouchDesigner proficiency
  • Kinect experience
  • Projector clarity & composition
  • Kinect interaction
  • Projector set-up
  • TouchDesigner interactivity
  • 3D printed models implementation
  • Projector capabilities
  • Projection surface
  • Environment control: What conditions will the room be in when we try the projectors?
  • User interaction: Will we be able to integrate the Kinect in place of the mouse?
  • IDENTIFYING
  • Projector clarity & composition
  • Kinect interaction
  • Environment control
  • STRATEGIZING 2 We chose "Projector Clarity & Composition" as our Action Research topic because, without a clear projection or a working projector, the whole project wouldn’t be effective as it simply wouldn't be visible. Getting the projections sharp and properly aligned is key to making sure everything works. By focusing on this, we can ensure that the projections look good and create a better experience for users.

    Workshop 2

    ACTION PHASE

  • Continue exploring TouchDesigner through tutorials and hands-on experimentation.
  • Experiment with new techniques and variations in TouchDesigner.
  • Set up and test projection mapping on different surfaces using various projectors.
  • Explore and compare different types of projectors for quality and performance.
  • Getting Connected throught family over on linkedin and Email. We were able to secure an industry connection through Marina. I spoke to Malcolm Ross from ProShow about projection mapping and inquiring about advice for beginners and how to approach our project. Malcolm provided some assets for us to try out on the projector to test quality and make sure everything is good.

    Action Research Testing

Implement the planned solution in a real-world setting.Engage participants and apply the intervention. Collect data through observations, feedback, or analytics.
